Bally Boys School Sports Teams shine following P&C funded coaching
It was wonderful to learn from Mr Gary Theodore, Head teacher Sport, about the success that the school teams are having following the introduction of the external coaching programs which the P&C funded. We committed a total of $47,000 over 3 years to the sport department to cover a range of boys and coach uniforms to ensure our teams present the best possible representation of the school and also a selection of external coaching programs to support the development of skills across various teams.
We learnt in the recent update that the sports to benefit include Volleyball, Soccer, Touch Football and Rugby with external coaching being provided by the T10 Football Academy and K2 Squared Sporting Style. Each team has a teacher coach who also provides school representation and huge thanks to Mr Diaz, Mr Robertson,Mr Backhouse, Mr Scheffers and Miss Duncan who are all extensively involved also. They have all provided feedback that they love the professional uniforms and boys and the coaches have become a force to be reckoned with. The program has brought a whole new level of professionalism and the discipline of regular focussed training sessions is really begining to yield rewards. Within the Sydney North and CHS Sport opponents know they will play against a well-coached and prepared school when drawn against Balgowlah Boys Campus.
There has been great feedback from the boys parents also who have commended the positive approach of all involved and how the boys have grown in confidence and team spirit and that all the coaches are great role models for the boys. This program has allowed the junior years to try sports they have not been involved in previously and for us to create succession plans for our senior years sport teams. There is also a special mention to the Water polo team, coached by Mr Sheather, who were crowned NSWCHS Champions for the third successive year. This hugely talented team of boys and their dedicated coach were able to represent the school wearing their new skull caps provided as part of the P&C funding. Its great to see the program thriving and benefits it is clearly delivering. A huge thanks to Mr Theodore for co-ordinating it all and providing us with this excellent update.
